Hi!
I just came across this photo and thought it might be a nice
inclusion to the website's photo gallery. I believe the date is early
January 1983 though I can't be more specific.
The Seadragon (SSN-584) was on her final WestPac deployment and lies
at anchor in the Derwent River, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. The
small boat to the right of the sub was the "liberty shuttle" that
traversed the 2 km between our anchorage and the pier on the Hobart
waterfront. Local recreational craft (like the sail boat) frequently
passed nearby to get a closer look at the oddity in their waters. (I
took this photo from a plane I rented at a local flying club in Hobart.)
